Passed away May 15, 2017 in Spokane, WA hos home Davenport, WA. He was born Oct 30, 1921 in Rathdrum, ID to Jacob and Martha (Burghard) Luiten. The family later moved to Davenport where he went to school and was the Sr. class president and graduated in 1940. After joining the Navy and serving in WWII he later married Marjorie Sautter on June 4, 1959 in Coeur d'Alene, ID and the two made their home in davenport and raised five children. Passed away May 15, 2017 in Spokane, WA hos home Davenport, WA. He was born Oct 30, 1921 in Rathdrum, ID to Jacob and Martha (Burghard) Luiten. The family later moved to Davenport where he went to school and was the Sr. class president and graduated in 1940. After joining the Navy and serving in WWII he later married Marjorie Sautter on June 4, 1959 in Coeur d'Alene, ID and the two made their home in davenport and raised five children. He is survived by five children Becky (Duane) VanDinter, David (Lori) Wright, Debby (Steve) Spuler, Martha Tate and Tim (Kim) Luiten along with 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. One brother Robert (Phyllis) Luiten and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie in 1999, five brothers Orval, Arnold, Ray, Harvey and Elroy and four sisters Marlus Luiten, Florence Walker, Verna Beieler, and Lillian Jablonski. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport Lions Club, Davenport School Board, Boy Scouts and Davenport little league. He was a mechanic for Hernas Chevrolet for many years and later was a rural mail carrier. Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 Am at the Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, WA with Pastor Stacey Friedlein, officiating.
